on getting fit….

So, I have not been to the gym for almost four months! Yes, four freaking months without any exercise. Well, I swam lots during the summer and occasionally managed to drag my lazy behind to the Zumba class…oh and walked my four legs buddy to the park or the foreshore. But that was it though. Today is the first day I hit the gym floor again, pretty sure tomorrow I’m going to be sore!

I am not a fitness junkie or whatever you call it. I prefer lying on my couch and reading book or flicking through magazine pages rather than exercising at the gym.  I also love to eat yummy food and I have sweet tooth. When I was younger my metabolism system was fast and furious, I could eat whatever I wanted and my tummy was still flat and I didn’t gain weight at all. Now that I am getting older, my metabolism also getting slower to burn any calories I consume. So a little piece of chocolate cake will take forever to burn, ughhh!

That’s why I need to exercise regularly. I normally try to go to the gym three times a week. I like cardio class such as body combat, body pump, body attack, and Zumba. I also do yoga class to balance my mind and soul and it is good for my back too ( you know, old age syndrome….😉) I am not a running person, in fact I hate run and I can’t run!  But I like walking and I can walk fast, especially when I’m mad at something or someone!  You can ask my husband about this!😀

I exercise to be healthy and toned.  I don’t focus on being skinny but if  I can shred another two or three kilos I will be very happy, and if I can get rid of my love handles it’s a great bonus! In  general I want to live a healthy life style, I want to look after my body,  but also I want to enjoy those yummy cupcakes and the delicious Indonesian food and now and then I like to party and drink one or two and I can’t live without  rice and pasta because I love carbo! But,  you know what, life is too short to be skinny and unhappy! I think, as long as you do every thing in moderate and exercise regularly, your weight will take care of itself! Try to have a balance diet and keep being active, then you are in the right track.

So, have you done your exercise today? Just remember, no matter how slow you go you are still lapping everybody on the couch! :p

  1. Ya ampuuuun aku serasa digeret ke treadmill baca ini. Pas banget lagi leyeh2 di couch nonton Masha and The Bear. Udah dua minggu lebih off ke gym yang cuma selemparan kolor dari rumah. Males banget ke gym sendirian. Padahal aku persis kayak mbak, sweet tooth. Nggak tahan liat cake sama gelato. Perutku nggak pernah rata makanya. Maju mulu nggak mundur2 perutnya. Makanya bye bye bodycon dress. Bentar lagi summer, beuuh bikini simpen dulu deh hehehe

    1. Anggiii…jadi uda geret dirimu ke treadmill lom…hahaha😀 Iya ya aku jg kadang suka males ke gym odhl yg ga jauh juga dari rumah. Do sit up dan plank aza Gi kl males ke gym at least those two keep your muscle stomach toned😉👍

  3. Gue ngiri liat perutnyaaa *menatap perut yg mlendung* ri, gimana ngecilin perut abis melahirkan??? I hate running as well.. GAAH! I love yoga (esp. hatha yoga and vinyasa) and now I am doing prenatal yoga twice a week. I am also thinking to pick up my swimming lessons again (this time prenatal swimming class) to keep me fit during my pregnancy 🙂

Oppieee loe kan lagi bunse darjeling kl perut loe rata bagaimana caranya dwehhhh😝😝 Yoga is good Pie apalagi yg vinyasa dan hatha itu kan ada yg buat core strength gitu kan, good buat otot2 perut nantinya. Kl sekarang, jgn mikirin perut rata dulu deh, ntar aza kalo uda lahiran dan uda settle dgn new baby etc otomatis pasti loe kurus sendiri dweh, trust me😉 Dulu gw jg berenang Pie pas bunse, ihh kalo inget uda kayak ikan paus kali gue saking gedenya!😘

  6. am not a running person as well mba sebenarnya (tapi dulu pasca lahirancuma ini satu2nya olga yang gratis dan modal sepatu nike doang. in fact I hate run apalagi kalau ada doggy langsung melipirrrr ngerem mendadak and berusaha cari arah lain.

    duh gak kebayang itu abis fitness trus besoknya sakit dimana2 ya mba. aku si dah paling pas zumba mba. soale enak ada musiknya dan serasa di dance floor. ih perutnya rataaaa.kalah perutku apalagi kalau abis makan langsung mekar ahahahah

    1. Pdhl Nis doggy kalo liat kamu lari makin dikejer2 krn dikirain lagi main sama dia hahahaa ga ngebayangin aku! Aku ga suka lari Nis, uda beberapa kali nyoba, palingan jogging aza masih ok lah😀 Itu pasca blom makan Nis makanya msh rata kl uda makan ya auch ah gelap dweh😜

  8. ngiri ama semangatnya, aku olahraga yang cocok cuma yoga ama renang, kalo lari varisesku kumat dan sakit minta ampun.
    Perutku jauh banget ama perutmu mbak, perutku kayak bumil (tapi gak lahir-lahir) hahaha….

  9. Aku sih coba workout sesering mungking (maunya 5-6x seminggu) tapi susah bikin waktunya soalnya kita udah mulai persiapan untuk ujian 😦
    Kalau ga workout aku jadi stress sendiri gitu, kaya ada yang kurang gitu.. hmm…

    1. Good on you Steph!👍 I struggle to do 4 times because of all my kids and my schedule. But I think as long as you do exercise it’s still better than nothing!😃

      1. Me, too. You’re absolutely right. During exam preps (like right now), I do 10-15 squats every 2 hours when I take a break from study. :p

  10. Bener banget nih mba aku udah lama banget ga olahraga. Mentok cuma ajak jalan anjing sore2, itu jg ga terlalu lama biasanya. Tapi mbaa oh tapi aku iri liat perutmu rata sekaliii… *menatap nanar perut sendiri*

    1. Walking the dog termasuk olahraga juga si Mar asal jalannya agak lamaan dan kalo bisa sembari jogging or jalan cepat 🙂 Hahahaa…itu perut rata karna blom makan, masih pagi Mariaaa…kalo uda makan ya ga serata itu dweh :p :p

    1. To begin is always a hard part, Gaareal. At least for me. After long hiatus normally it’s difficult for me to drag my behind to gym, especially in the winter😀 But once I keep going I’m ok.

  12. Hihihi.. exerciseku hari ini gendongin anak kicik 9kg aja mba bbrp jam sekalian bobo’in.. lumayan sih gara2 sering begini, lemak2 sisa hamil dulu ngilang semua :))

    1. Hi Be…aah sama, waktu the boys msh seumuran Jo gitu exercise aku juga gitu, malah double kiri kanan or depan belakang krn kalo satu digendong satunya juga harus digendong😳😳

  13. halo mbak ria, salam kenal 😀 wahh dulu aku palin anti banget olahraga jaman smp/sma sampe suka bolos dan merana banget pas kelasnya kecuali pas senam lantai yg ada kayang2 ama tigersprong hahaha, kalo sekarang jadi hobi tapi karena terbentur sama kerjaan yang sibuknya naudzibillah jadi ga bisa sering maen ke gym hiks.. aku malah seneng banget angkat beban dibanding cardio macam treadmill dan static bike gitu, aku benci banget cardio workouts hahaha.

    1. Kan baru 2 tahun lahiran Frany, yg penting ada olahraganya deh, entah itu jalan sambil dorong2 pram atau gendong anak, yg penting membakar kalori kan😉😀
